Surface Water, Wastewater & Liquid Sewage Management using the LRPM Aerobic
Remediation System

The Little River Pond Mill® circulator is an
aquatic (water based) biogeochemical cycle remediation
facilitator/biological stimulator, promoting biologically active filtration (BAF)
in surface waters, waste waters and liquid manure and sewage.
Biogeochemical remediation (BGC) is the act of improving
an environmental condition, in this case aquatic or water based, with the
assistance of biological agents such as microorganisms (BAF) and the natural
geochemical cycling processes, i.e. the carbon cycle.
The circulator action encourages the organisms, producers
and consumers, in the aquatic environment (lake, pond, sewage lagoon) to
increase their overall productivity. The introduction of oxygen, at the
atmosphere (air)-water interface, in conjunction with the powerful circulation,
provides an environment that enhances or improves the natural diversity in the
aquatic system by upscaling the rate and the efficiency of the naturally
occurring biogeochemical cycle (the rate and the efficiency at which energy,
nutrients, oxygen, etc. are cycled).
Help nature come back into equilibrium

The ecosystem is now more balanced meaning that the
organisms within the aquatic environment are now synchronized with the
nutrients, oxygen, energy and circulation available to them and 'excesses', i.e.
algae bloom, odours, etc., should no longer pose a problem.
This ecosystem enhancement tool can be
utilized to tailor-make a
final desired end result. Prior to the introduction of circulation and surface
re-aeration, using the Little River Pond Mill® circulator,
nutrient rich organic matter settled to the bottom where anaerobic decomposition
took place. Anaerobic decomposition produces potentially toxic and foul-smelling
gases - both undesirable and potentially lethal to people, other organisms, and
to our atmosphere.
Increase dissolved oxygen levels

The circulation and aeration component introduced not only
allows more organisms to survive in the same amount of space, and promotes the
creation of crucial biofloc and biofilm microbial communities, but it also
promotes an increase in both species diversity and population density.
This ecosystem enhancement reduces the negative components typically observed in
stagnant aquatic ecosystems including effluent lagoons.
Reduction of Pollution Indicators including
Greenhouse and Acid Rain Gases

Some of the observed benefits include a
reduction/elimination of/in:

          - noxious odours and potentially harmful gases
(including greenhouse and acid rain gases)

          - biological (BOD) and chemical (COD) oxygen
          demands

          - suspended solids

          - pest/undesirable/harmful weed and organism
species (Eurasian Watermilfoil, mosquito larvae, e.coli)

          - pollutants (hydrocarbons)

Reduce chemical use

Several municipalities and larger cities, presently and previously using
chemical treatment within their potable water and municipal wastewater systems,
have observed overall improvements within their systems through use of the Little River Pond Mill® circulators. Improved
chemical utilization through
enhanced circulation resulting in improved chemical efficiencies and decreased
consumption (due to significant population
decrease/elimination of undesirable organisms) has been a positive outcome for
both potable water supplies and municipal waste water treatment.
Reduce population of pest & harmful species

With an increase in species diversity and population numbers, especially
aerobic (requiring the presence of oxygen) organisms, the population of pest and
harmful (undesirable) species such as algae, mosquito larvae, milfoil,
Cyanobacteria, Botulism, E. coli and other coliform bacteria, Shigella, Giardia,
and Cryptosporidium, etc., also decreases.
Various factors are working together to create the
improved ecosystem effects and to decrease/deter the survival of these and other
undesirable organisms.  These factors include, but are not exclusive to:

          - the presence of
circulation

          - competition for food

          - predation

          - the presence of oxygen

          - elimination of a desired habitat

          - tying up of a required nutrient element(s) e.g.
          phosphorus

          - exposure to sunlight (UV rays)

          - other factors (known/unknown)

Sewage management

With adequate surface area per machine, and ensuring continuous action of the
pond mills through use of electricity, or solar power with a battery, the lagoon
environment can be turned into, and maintained in, an aerobic state
(if desired).
- top - The Little River Pond Mill® circulator  is
an effective ecosystem enhancement tool that can be used to 'tailor-make' solutions in
aquatic environments - surface water, waste water and liquid manure/sewage.
Whether your desire is to enhance or maintain fish populations in a lake,
increase the survival rate and health of shrimp in a pond, reduce or eliminate
odours and solids in a sewage lagoon, or clean up a polluted aquatic
environment, the Little River Pond Mill® circulator
is an effective tool in aquatic environment management.
